Elly Lucas is a busy young freelance photographer from Derby, England. Specialising in portraiture, her work has been described as ethereal, vintage, folksy and, to her delight, “like waking up and remembering the last fragments of your most beautiful dreams”.
Spurred on by her fascination with people and nature, Elly shoots a broad spectrum of portrait requirements, ranging from fashion to music promo to weddings and more. She has recently been thrilled to have both the front cover and a five page feature in the April 2012 edition of Practical Photography magazine, and has previously shot samples for PLAIN LAZY clothing alongside a host of album & single covers.
Alongside her photographic career, Elly also plays as one half of David Gibb & Elly Lucas (BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Finalists 2011) who's début album “Old Chairs To Mend” has recently been released to widespread praise. Elly also spent three years playing as part of touring band “David Gibb & The Pony Club”, playing festivals from Beautiful Days to Glastonbury. Elly uses a Canon 5D mkII and adores prime lenses. She also favours location portraiture and likes to do the make-up at her shoots when she has time.

I realise I look like I’m having an internal battle - this is what happens when you’re banned from giggling whilst playing the fiddle in a variety of ridiculous hats.
Here’s our new video for the song ‘Uncle Joe’ taken from our debut album Old Chairs To Mend. It’s got hats in it.
I spent the afternoon running around my garden in checked tights and eyeliner. Hopefully without causing the neighbours too much alarm…
